Another
H+Soft Arcade Update
has been released!
Version 1.9
is out now. A minor update, but a very
cool
one! The original scrolling star back drop has
been removed and replaced with a customizable
back drop image! Which also believe it or not
greatly improves performance. You can toggle
between the Default back drop and a Custom one -
Go to Menu >> Performance/Display Settings and
click on 'Back Drop Image' to toggle this
setting. You can get info or download back drops
in the
Photo Gallery.
There are eight images to choose from so far,
and many more are on the way! Unless there are any bugs, this should be the
last H+Soft Arcade update for quite some time -
or until I think of another simple add-on! Also,
the 'Other Games' Archive has been removed on
HsRetroGames. I really did'nt want to have to do
this, but I had to make room for the new photo
gallery! Also, if
you are still playing an H+Soft Arcade version
less than the v1.8 version, you definitely need
to update everything (including games) - Read
the

post below for details.
Burgeroids has
also been updated! It has been completely
recompiled and formatted in 640x480 graphics -
it should now run on any system - even mini
netbooks! That's one down! Three more to go!
Again, see the post below for info on the latest projects/updates.

The
H+Soft
Arcade v1.8
update has been released!
The
software has undergone another major update and
will now run on a larger rage of computers with
better performance - even runs well on mini
netbooks! With this new build you are strongly
urged to update to this new version and update
all of the games you have installed, If you
don't you may encounter errors later, and will
not be able to play new games correctly in the
future. This new build now also incorporates two
different run-time graphics drivers instead of
one, giving different run-time performance
depending on the speed setting H+Soft Arcade is
set to. If your computer has an ATI or Nvidia
graphics card continue to use the V-Sync @ 60
HRZ setting as most of these cards will support
this setting. If you have a more standard
computer (or a mini netbook) use the FPS
settings, which uses a different driver now for
smoother performance. Either way you should play
around with the new speed settings to see which
performs best on your machine, especially if you
experience fast, slow, or jerky scrolling and/or
game play. The new H+Soft Arcade
version now defaults to the Normal (60 FPS)
setting in Windowed mode which will initially
run on anything if you have the system
requirements. However, if the previous default
V-Sync @ 60 HRZ setting worked great for you
then change it back once you've updated
everything. If using computers with Intel
graphics cards (such as mini netbooks) you may
want to run the games in Full Screen mode for
better performance. All of these settings (as
you may know) can be accessed from the main Menu
and then Performance/Display Settings in H+Soft
Arcade. I have also decided to do additional
updates on
Burgeroids,
CrossFire '07 'Desert
Raid',
Hagatha's Halloween Havoc,
and
Pirate Pop! on
the side when there is time. These games are
going to be rescaled and compiled to run in a
640x480 display rather than the larger displays
they currently run in - which will make them
compatible on more systems and not so goofy in
Windowed mode. In the end, I would like all
games for H+Soft Arcade to run in 640x480 for
compatibility and performance. All future games
are going to be in 640x480 for these reasons.
Burgeroids and Pirate Pop! will not run on mini
netbooks or graphics cards that support a
maximum display less than 1024x768. Another game
that may undergo an additional update is
Jack-o's Revenge Pinball.
This game I would like to cut the main board
into 5-6 individual scrolling boards rather than
one large board, mainly for improved performance
on slower computers. That's enough for the
update stuff, I would also like to mention the new
games in development, which are still being
worked on, it just takes awhile. To view the
current game projects in development please read
